Buying in United Arab Emirates, from reservation to keys

In Dubai the Land Department records an off-plan purchase from the start, and your payments go into escrow.

  1. 1

    Buy in a freehold area

Foreigners own outright in Dubai’s designated freehold areas, with title in their own name.

  2. 2

    Reserve and sign

The developer’s sale and purchase agreement sets the payment plan and the handover date. Your own lawyer reviews it.

  3. 3

    Register the Oqood

The off-plan sale is registered with the Dubai Land Department, and the 4% DLD fee is paid, usually by the buyer.

  4. 4

    Pay into escrow

Each payment goes into a RERA-regulated escrow account, released to the developer only as construction progresses.

  5. 5

    Take the title deed

At handover the Oqood becomes a title deed at the Dubai Land Department.

  6. 6

    Let it, or stay

Property worth AED 2 million or more can qualify for the ten-year Golden Visa. Service charges are approved by RERA for each building.

Why choose the UAE for property investment.

  1. 01

    Connected to the world

  2. 02

    A base for international business

Dubai’s free zones allow full foreign ownership of companies and offer favourable tax treatment, drawing businesses from around the world. Every new company brings people who need homes.

  3. 03

A global trade and logistics hub

Jebel Ali, the largest port in the Middle East, anchors Dubai’s role in world trade. Logistics and trade support employment well beyond tourism and finance.
