The routes to living in Oman.
Our verdict. Oman's Golden Residency suits a buyer who wants a five-year permit for OMR 250,000 in property, or ten years for OMR 500,000, with a spouse, children and dependent parents included. Since June 2026, land bought to build homes counts too. There is no personal income tax today; from 1 January 2028, residents with income above OMR 42,000 a year will pay 5%. What counts against it is that the programme, relaunched in August 2025, publishes no processing time and sets no path to permanent residence or citizenship. Against Bahrain's Golden Residency, the entry threshold is almost twice as high, for half the permit length.
