The routes to living in Indonesia.
Our verdict. Indonesia's Second Home visa suits someone who wants up to ten years in the country without buying anything: the condition is US$130,000 kept in a state-owned Indonesian bank, or a commitment to buy an apartment worth at least US$1 million. The visa is issued four working days after the fee is paid, and permanent residence can follow after three years. What counts against it is that a home only counts at the US$1 million level, there is no set path to citizenship, and tax residents of 183 days or more are taxed on worldwide income in principle. Next to Malaysia's MM2H, no home is needed below US$1 million, and the deposit is a little lower than Silver's US$150,000.
