The routes to living in Cyprus.
Our verdict. Cyprus suits a buyer who wants permanent residence from the start through a new home: €300,000 before VAT in new residential property from a developer, paid with money from abroad, plus a secured annual income of €50,000, with €15,000 more for a spouse and €10,000 for each minor child. There is no minimum stay beyond a visit every two years, and citizenship is possible after about eight years. Non-dom status removes the Special Defence Contribution on dividends and interest. The drawback is the income test, and parents have not been included since 2023. Set against Greece's standard €400,000 route, the entry point is lower, and the permit is permanent rather than five-yearly.
